HI, I'M JOEL

My name is Joel Taylor. I’m a lifelong sailor, sailing instructor, drone pilot and videographer, and freelance audio editor. I’ve been earning a living as a professional mariner for over 17 years and I’m now branching out into audio and video.

I’m a certified Yachtmaster Offshore (Sail), and qualified as a Cruising Instructor under the RYA (Royal Yachting Association), Sail Canada and ASA (American Sailing Association) schemes. Sailing is my passion. There’s nothing I enjoy more than getting out on the water and teaching people the joys of sailing. 

Sailing is for everyone and one of my missions is to help those who think they can't participate in the sport to discover the freedom of being in control, on the water. I find working with people with physical and learning challenges to be very rewarding.

Second only to sailing is my love for piloting drones. It’s as close as you can get to actually flying while your two feet are still on the ground (or a boat deck!). I shoot and edit drone photos and videos and I’m also a sound editor.

When I’m not on the water or virtually in the air, I’m playing bluegrass and Celtic music on my mandolin. If you come sailing with me, you might even get a few tunes.
